A.R. Overload

The things you will do for your baby. While getting my masters degree for library media specialist (yes, you have to have a masters to tell people to be quiet.), I was reminded of how A.R. was of the devil. It proved itself this weekend. Poor little Kendall was 2.9 points away from "RIDIN' ON THE HAYRIDE" to celebrate her goal. She has been working extra hard this nine weeks, so there was no way I was going to let her fail.
Helicopter Mom to the RescUUUUUUUE! I decided to beat this thing. I knew she had read these books; we just hadn't taken the time to test. We thought the ole' "reading for enjoyment" thing would be better. HA! So off to my library we went Sunday afternoon. SEVEN, count them SEVEN tests later, she blew that goal away. Disaster avoided, chalk one up for that Media Specialist Helicopter Mom. Not everyone can have that title. I had to pay a lot of money for that. In fact, I better get to those bills...student loans don't pay for themselves nor take time off for rescue missions.

Saturday Slacker

I love Saturdays. Waking up early...just because I can. Well that is partially true. My body is getting old enough to know a routine, so no matter how hard I try to sleep late, it won't let me. But the part that doesn't have to get up because it is not a work day, truly enjoys waking up to a cool autumn morning to check my favorite blogs, catch up on all that I DVR'd during the work week and drink my coffee.
Plus, family would be here today. Kacy was coming in from Colorado and Kelly, Bryan, and Kaylen were also on their way to "OKAMO City" as the girls used to say.
While Kelly and Bryan had lunch and a movie, Kaylen learned that Belle was not very big and scary. After only a short time, they were kissin' cousins. Well, Belle was still worried about her ball and playing fetch, but Kaylen wasn't scared to share a kiss. Kaylen also took time to write with chalk on the cement and play ball with Mackenzie.

The Merritts returned for their child and while Charles and Bryan cheered the Sooners on, Kelly and I retreated to my room with our babies, Kendall 8 1/2 and Kaylen 16 mos. We started delving into our new cookbook written by Jessica Seinfeld. Yes, we fell victim to OPRAH and her recommendation. Now we just have to stop reading and actually cook. The husbands and children are not holdin' their breath.
